Queensland Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg says the frontbench demise of former Liberal leader Bruce Flegg is not payback for the 2006 election debacle.

Mr Springborg and Dr Flegg were an ill-fated team in 2006.

But the Liberal National Party (LNP) Leader says that is not why Dr Flegg is no longer on the Opposition frontbench.

"If that were the case then he wouldn't have been offered a portfolio," he said.

But Dr Flegg says he was not offered his preferred areas.

"I think that I've something to contribute in the areas of treasury and health," he said.

So instead he will concentrate on being a local MP.

Mr Springborg's revamp includes eight new portfolio areas he says match what voters want.

"The best thing is actually to have a big set of ears and listen to what Queenslanders are saying and their priorities for the 21st Century," he said.

The titles including future growth and open government no longer mirror the Premier's Cabinet.
